After receiving your passport photo and/or passport application from PassportNow. The State Department’s processing is 8 to 11 weeks for routine processing and 5 to 7 weeks for expedited processing is. The State Department’s processing times begin the day the State Department receives your application at a passport agency or center, not the day you mail your application or apply for a passport at a local acceptance facility.

The PassportNow fee is either $29 or $19. The government fee for first time passport application is $165. The government fee for renewing a passport is $130. The card cannot be used for air travel. It is generally used for those who live close to the border and travel frequently by land or sea. It cannot be used for travel to any other destinations or for any air travel outside of the US.

We recommend applying early. At least 4-6 months prior to planned travel.

If your name is different from what is listed on your birth certificate or has changed since the issuance of your most recent passport, you can still renew your passport. When completing your passport application, use your current legal name. In addition, you will need to provide the original name change document such as a marriage certificate, divorcee decree or adoption paperwork.

The photo should show a clear, front view, full face of the traveler. The traveler should be in normal street attire, without a hat or glasses, preferably against a neutral background. A child passport cannot be renewed. It is considered a new child passport each time until the applicant is 16 or older. At that time, the applicant can apply for a new adult passport. Please note that a visit to a Passport Acceptance facility is required for all child passports. Acceptable passport photos for babies must be the same size as an adult (2in x 2in) and taken within the past 6 months. When taking a photo of your baby or toddler, no other person should be in the photo. The best way to take a photo is to lay your baby or toddler on his or her back on a plain white or off-white sheet. No shadows!
